"To move towards sustainable consumption, buyers need to recognise which products and services have preferable environmental outcomes."

Petar Johnson, Founder - GECA

The Good Environmental Choice Declaration is the premier internationally recognised tool for manufacturers seeking to make a comprehensive, best practice environmental declaration to maintain their environmental market edge. It assures their customers of products and services that deliver better environmental outcomes. Over 300 environmentally preferable products have been certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA), representing an annual turnover of over AUS $1 billion. GECA is a Global Eco-labelling Network member.

CodeMark is a new building product certification scheme for Australia and New Zealand. CodeMark strengthens the entire building supply chain and gives users confidence that their building products comply. Building materials, forms of construction and design can come under the scheme.

Certification Services is partnering with GECA to provide independent third party certification of products and services to the ISO 14024 Standard. Application for the GECA label can be made through Certification Services or directly to GECA at www.geca.org.au. Certification Services is seeking CodeMark accreditation by JAS-ANZ to provide independent third party certification of products and services to ensure they meet the specified requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and/or the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC). This is a new programme that will assist the building industry by eliminating unnecessary time delays in seeking product approval, providing competitive advantage to suppliers and builders. Organisations seeking CodeMark certification of their product should apply directly to Certification Services.
