On Tuesday, 17th February 2009, four of our Stellenbosch students (Melissa Blake, Pieter Bam, Cobus Weyers & Kotie Erwee) were given the opportunity to participate and represent Davis Langdon in the charity project, Habitat for Humanity, in Mfuleni.
“While driving to Mfuleni we were all uncertain about what to expect, but on arrival at the site we were welcomed by a group of people from Mfuleni and GVK Building & Construction. Everyone was very friendly and excited. We formed small groups and learned various new skills; from mixing dagga, laying bricks, to learning local expressions and the culture.
The owner’s wife of the house we were building, made us some delicious vetkoek for tea time and at lunch time we were served a huge plate of home-made food.
The locals that were helping us build, also took us around the village. We were surprised to see under which conditions these people live...
Despite the very hot weather, we really enjoyed the experience!!”
From everyone at Davis Langdon, we say: WELL DONE GUYS!
